Excellence in Construction Award

10/25/18

The Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) recognized contractor firms for top area construction projects. Dolan Construction received an Excellence in Construction Award from ABC for the Alcon Precision Device Expansion Facility Project.

The project converted a steel fabrication shop into a medical device manufacturing facility for a global leader in eye care. The Owner stated from the initial meeting that the schedule for the project had to be met as the construction completion date was only the first hurdle on their way to meeting a critical production start date. After construction, the Owner had to demonstrate compliance with additional federal and international regulations in order to begin production. It was clear time could not be lost during construction.

Despite several challenges through the course of the project, including a significant change in sprinkler requirements from FM Global requiring new water service and sprinkler redesign mid project, the team was able to deliver the project on time and in budget for Alcon’s target delivery date.  This project yielded a successful outcome for both the construction team and the Owner.
